The IPEX 9838168 is a Schedule 80 CPVC reducing bushing with a flush-style spigot by female pipe thread (FPT) connection. It transitions a 1-1/4 inch line down to a 1 inch female threaded fitting within a CPVC piping system. Rated for a maximum service temperature of 200 degrees F under pressure, with occasional exposure to 212 degrees F, it handles demanding thermal conditions in hot and cold water distribution. The CPVC material carries a design stress of 2,000 psi at 73 degrees F. Plumbers and pipefitters install this bushing to reduce line size without requiring a separate coupling or adapter arrangement.
This bushing is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing systems where Schedule 80 CPVC pipe and fittings are specified. Typical installations include hot and cold water distribution, industrial process piping, and chemical handling systems where corrosion resistance and thermal performance are required. The flush-style design seats the bushing directly into a socket-end fitting, keeping transitions compact in tight spaces.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 80 CPVC piping systems requiring a 1-1/4 inch spigot to 1 inch FPT reducing connection.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and the IPC. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before cutting or joining any fittings. Use only CPVC-rated solvent cement and primer when making solvent-weld connections to the spigot end. Do not apply thread sealant tape or compound to the spigot end, as that end is solvent-welded, not threaded.
