The IPEX 9838167 is a CPVC Schedule 80 reducing bushing with a spigot inlet and female socket outlet, designed for industrial and commercial piping systems where chemical resistance and temperature performance are critical. Manufactured from Corzan chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC), this fitting transitions from a 1-1/4 inch spigot connection down to a 3/4 inch female socket. Schedule 80 wall thickness provides additional pressure-bearing capacity compared to Schedule 40. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in chemical process lines, industrial fluid handling systems, and other applications where metal corrosion or galvanic degradation is a concern.
This bushing is suited for industrial process piping, chemical distribution systems, and potable water applications. CPVC Schedule 80 fittings perform across a broad service temperature range, making them appropriate for both ambient and elevated-temperature fluid systems. The Corzan material is listed with the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) and CSA International for potable water service, extending its use to facilities requiring NSF compliance. Typical installations include chemical plants, water treatment facilities, industrial process loops, and commercial plumbing where aggressive fluid chemistry would degrade metal components.
Designed as an OEM-style Schedule 80 CPVC fitting for use within the IPEX Corzan pipe, valves, and fittings system. Compatible with standard Schedule 80 CPVC piping systems requiring a 1-1/4 inch spigot to 3/4 inch female socket reducing connection.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter in accordance with applicable plumbing codes, including the International Plumbing Code (IPC) where adopted. Isolate and depressurize the piping system completely before making any fitting connections. CPVC Schedule 80 fittings are joined using CPVC-compatible solvent cement; do not use PVC-only cement, as it is not rated for CPVC. Allow full cure time per the cement manufacturer instructions before restoring system pressure.
