The IPEX 9838166 is a CPVC Schedule 80 spigot x female bushing designed to reduce a 1-1/4-inch line down to a 1/2-inch female socket connection. Manufactured from Corzan chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC), this bushing provides exceptional resistance to corrosion, oxidation, and a broad range of chemicals including acids, alcohols, alkalies, salt solutions, and halogens. The Schedule 80 wall thickness delivers greater pressure capacity than Schedule 40, making it suitable for demanding industrial and chemical process piping applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting as part of a complete Corzan PVF system engineered and manufactured to consistent dimensional and performance standards.
This bushing is used in industrial process piping, chemical handling systems, and potable water distribution where corrosion resistance and long service life are required. The Corzan CPVC material is rated for use with potable water, as listed by the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) and CSA International, and performs reliably across a wide service temperature range. It is well suited for both above-ground and underground installations, as CPVC is immune to electrochemical and galvanic corrosion as well as damage from naturally corrosive soil conditions.
Designed for use within the IPEX Corzan CPVC Schedule 80 pipe, valves, and fittings system for industrial process piping, chemical handling, and potable water applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter following applicable codes such as the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Solvent-cement the spigot end into a Schedule 80 CPVC socket using CPVC-compatible primer and cement; do not use PVC cement. Depressurize and drain the line fully before cutting into an existing system. Allow full cure time per the cement manufacturer instructions before returning the line to service.
