The IPEX 9837209 is a CPVC Schedule 80 spigot x socket reducing bushing sized at 1-1/2 inches by 1/2 inches, designed for use in industrial and chemical process piping systems. Manufactured from Corzan chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC), this bushing delivers strong resistance to corrosion, oxidation, and a broad range of aggressive chemicals including acids, alcohols, alkalies, salt solutions, and halogens. Schedule 80 wall thickness provides added pressure capacity compared to Schedule 40, making it appropriate for demanding service conditions. Licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and industrial piping contractors install this fitting where a reduction from a 1-1/2 inch spigot to a 1/2 inch socket is needed within a CPVC piping run.
This bushing is suited for industrial process piping, chemical handling systems, and potable water applications where corrosion resistance and long service life are required. Corzan CPVC is listed with the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) and CSA International for potable water service. Its smooth interior wall resists pitting, scaling, and rust, maintaining consistent flow characteristics over the life of the installation. The fitting performs reliably in underground installations where corrosive soil conditions or electrochemical and galvanic corrosion would degrade metal alternatives.
Designed for use within IPEX Corzan CPVC Schedule 80 pipe, valve, and fitting systems intended for industrial process piping and chemical handling applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter following applicable codes such as the International Plumbing Code (IPC) and manufacturer solvent-cement guidelines for CPVC. Shut off and depressurize the piping system completely before cutting into any existing line. Use only CPVC-rated solvent cement and primer; do not substitute PVC cement, as it is not compatible with CPVC material. Allow full cure time before returning the system to service pressure.
