The IPEX 9837166 is a CPVC Schedule 80 reducing bushing with a spigot inlet and socket outlet, sized to transition from 1-1/4 inches down to 1/2 inches. Manufactured from Corzan chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC), this fitting is built for industrial and chemical process piping where metal corrosion, galvanic reactions, or aggressive media make thermoplastic the preferred choice. The Schedule 80 wall thickness provides added pressure rating and mechanical strength compared to Schedule 40, making it appropriate for demanding service conditions. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting as part of a complete CPVC piping system in chemical plants, industrial process lines, and potable water applications.
This bushing is suited for use in industrial process piping, chemical distribution systems, and water treatment applications where CPVC is specified. It performs reliably across a broad service temperature range and resists attack from most acids, alcohols, alkalies, salt solutions, and halogens. Because CPVC does not rust, pit, scale, or corrode, the interior walls maintain consistent flow characteristics over the life of the installation. It is appropriate for both above-ground and underground installations where corrosive soil conditions or electrochemical exposure would degrade metal fittings.
Designed for use within CPVC Schedule 80 piping systems as an OEM-compatible reducing bushing where a spigot-to-socket transition from 1-1/4 inches to 1/2 inches is required. Intended for installation within IPEX Corzan CPVC pipe, valve, and fittings systems engineered to consistent dimensional and performance standards.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter familiar with CPVC solvent-cement joining procedures per applicable codes including IPC and IPEX system guidelines. Shut off and depressurize the line completely before cutting or disassembling any section of existing piping. Use only CPVC-compatible solvent cement and primer rated for Schedule 80 fittings and allow full cure time before returning the system to service. Do not use pipe dope, Teflon tape, or adhesives intended for PVC, as these are not suitable for CPVC joints.
