The IPEX 838338 is a flush-style PVC Schedule 80 reducing bushing with a spigot x female threaded (FPT) end connection, sized at 3 inches x 2 inches. It is injection molded from rigid PVC and carries a pressure rating of 370 psi at 73 degrees F (non-shock). The temperature rating is 140 degrees F. This bushing is designed to reduce a 3-inch socket or fitting port down to a 2-inch female-threaded connection, making it a standard component in pressure-rated PVC piping systems. Licensed plumbers and industrial pipefitters install this fitting in systems where a schedule 80 pressure rating is required.
The 838338 is suited for a wide range of applications including plumbing, irrigation, pool and spa systems, chilled water, drainage, water and wastewater treatment, chemical processing, and industrial plating lines. It is rated for both hot and cold potable water service and meets lead-free requirements, making it appropriate for use in potable water systems alongside non-potable industrial applications. The flush bushing profile seats cleanly inside a matching schedule 80 socket fitting without protruding into the flow path.
Designed as an OEM-style schedule 80 PVC reducing bushing for use in 3-inch x 2-inch spigot x female-threaded configurations across plumbing, irrigation, pool and spa, and industrial PVC piping systems.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified pipefitters. Shut off system pressure and drain the line before disassembling any threaded or solvent-welded connections. The spigot end is solvent-cemented into a matching schedule 80 socket fitting using PVC primer and schedule 80-rated cement in accordance with ASTM D2564 procedures; the FPT end accepts a 2-inch male-threaded fitting with appropriate thread sealant. Do not over-torque threaded connections in PVC, as the material is not rated for the same torque loads as metal fittings.
