The IPEX 59466 is a CPVC Schedule 80 socket-by-socket reducing coupling designed for industrial process piping systems. It connects 1-1/2 inch pipe to 1-1/4 inch pipe using solvent-cement socket joints on both ends. CPVC Schedule 80 construction gives this fitting a design stress rating of 2,000 psi at 73 degrees F and a maximum service temperature of 200 degrees F under pressure, with occasional exposure to boiling water at 212 degrees F. Licensed plumbers and industrial pipefitters install this fitting in chemical process, water treatment, and industrial fluid-handling applications where metal corrosion is a concern.
This coupling is part of the IPEX Xirtec CPVC system, a complete pipe, valves, and fittings package engineered for chemical process and industrial applications. It is well suited for systems handling acids, alcohols, salts, and halogens. The Xirtec CPVC line is designed to serve as a low-maintenance alternative to carbon steel and exotic metal piping, offering interior and exterior corrosion resistance without the energy and material costs associated with metal systems. Typical installations include industrial process lines, chemical distribution headers, and commercial plumbing where elevated temperatures and corrosive media are present.
Designed for use within the IPEX Xirtec CPVC Schedule 80 pipe, valves, and fittings system for chemical process and industrial piping applications requiring 1-1/2 inch by 1-1/4 inch reducing socket couplings.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified industrial pipefitter in accordance with applicable codes, including ASTM and local plumbing or process-piping standards. Shut off and depressurize the system fully before cutting into an existing line or removing any fitting. Use a CPVC-rated solvent cement and primer appropriate for Schedule 80 fittings, and allow full cure time before returning the system to service. Do not over-ream socket ends or use PVC-only cement on CPVC fittings.
