The IPEX 59460 is a reducing socket coupling manufactured from Xirtec CPVC and rated to Schedule 80 pressure standards. It connects a 3/4-inch socket to a 1/2-inch socket, making it a direct-transition fitting for downsizing pipe runs without additional adapters. Designed for chemical process piping and industrial fluid handling, this coupling is built to withstand a maximum service temperature of 200 degrees F under pressure, with a design stress rating of 2,000 psi at 73 degrees F. Plumbers and pipefitters working in industrial, commercial, or treatment-plant environments install this fitting using solvent-cement joining per standard CPVC procedures.
This coupling is suited for process piping systems handling acids, alcohols, salts, and halogens where metal fittings are susceptible to corrosion or pitting. Its CPVC construction makes it a practical alternative to stainless steel, carbon steel, and exotic alloy fittings in demanding chemical environments. Typical applications include chemical feed lines, water treatment systems, industrial process loops, and corrosive-fluid distribution in both above-ground and enclosed piping layouts. The Xirtec CPVC material is part of a full Pipe, Valves and Fittings system engineered and manufactured to IPEX dimensional and performance standards.
Designed for use within CPVC Schedule 80 socket-type process piping systems, including the IPEX Xirtec CPVC Pipe, Valves and Fittings product line. Suitable for solvent-cement joining with standard CPVC Schedule 80 pipe and fittings following applicable codes.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter familiar with CPVC solvent-cement procedures. Shut off all flow and depressurize the line before cutting or joining. Use only CPVC-rated solvent cement and primer; do not substitute PVC cement, as it is not rated for CPVC material. Reference ASTM D2846 and applicable local plumbing or process-piping codes when selecting cement and verifying pressure ratings for the installed temperature range.
