The IPEX 53236 is a 1-1/4 inch clear PVC Tru-Union Y-strainer designed to filter debris from liquid piping systems. The clear body allows visual inspection of the strainer basket without disassembly. It accepts both socket and female pipe thread (FPT) end connections and uses FPM seals for chemical resistance in demanding service conditions. The 35 mesh screen with 1/32 inch perforations captures particulate while maintaining adequate flow. The Tru-Union design allows the strainer body to be removed from the line without disturbing the end connections, making cleaning and service significantly faster. Plumbers and pipefitters install this strainer in water treatment, chemical feed, irrigation, and industrial fluid systems.
This strainer is suited for residential and light commercial piping applications where protecting downstream equipment from debris is required. Typical installations include protecting pump inlets, solenoid valves, meters, and other inline components. The clear PVC construction makes it well suited for chlorinated water, mild chemical, and pool or spa piping systems where metal strainers would corrode. Socket and FPT end options provide flexibility when connecting to existing PVC pipe runs.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation strainer for 1-1/4 inch PVC piping systems using standard socket or female pipe thread end connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes. Shut off and depressurize the system fully before installing or servicing the strainer. Solvent-cement socket connections require proper PVC primer and cement applied per the cement manufacturer's instructions. Orient the strainer so the screen leg is accessible for service and so accumulated debris drains away from critical downstream components.
