The IPEX 414218bc is a solvent-weld reducing coupling designed for drain, waste, and vent (DWV) piping systems. It transitions between 4-inch and 3-inch nominal pipe sizes using a hub x hub end configuration, creating a secure, leak-free joint at each connection point. The fitting is engineered for low-pressure gravity-flow drainage applications and conforms to standard DWV system requirements. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting when a DWV line steps down in diameter, such as moving from a main stack to a branch line. Its compact profile fits within standard wall and floor framing cavities.
This reducing coupling is suited for residential and light commercial DWV installations where a 4-inch line must transition to a 3-inch run. Typical applications include connections at soil stacks, branch drain lines, and sewer service transitions inside or below a structure. The hub x hub design accepts standard DWV pipe on both ends and is joined using approved PVC or ABS solvent cement, depending on the pipe material in use.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 4-inch to 3-inch nominal DWV piping systems using solvent-weld hub connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off water supply and ensure the drain line is clear and dry before cutting into existing pipe. Clean and dry all mating surfaces, apply the appropriate primer and solvent cement for the pipe material in use, and allow full cure time before returning the system to service. Do not use this fitting in pressurized supply lines.
