The IPEX 36843 is a 4-inch PVC Schedule 80 socket union designed for industrial and commercial piping systems where chemical resistance and long-term durability are required. Schedule 80 PVC offers thicker walls than Schedule 40, making it suitable for higher-pressure applications. The socket end configuration allows for solvent-cement joining, producing a permanent, leak-tight connection. This fitting is rated for a maximum service temperature of 140 degrees F in pressure service and up to 180 degrees F for intermittent gravity flow. It is installed by licensed plumbers and industrial pipefitters working on process piping, chemical handling, and water treatment systems.
This union is well-suited for residential, commercial, and industrial piping installations where corrosion resistance and chemical compatibility are critical. Typical applications include chemical process lines, water treatment facilities, industrial fluid handling, and potable water systems. The fitting is listed with the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) and CSA International for use with potable water. Its smooth interior walls minimize friction loss and resist scale and deposit buildup over extended service cycles.
Designed for use in 4-inch Schedule 80 PVC piping systems. Compatible with standard Schedule 80 PVC solvent-cement socket fittings and pipe conforming to applicable ASTM dimensional standards. Listed with NSF and CSA International for potable water applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter in accordance with local plumbing codes and ASTM solvent-cement procedures. Shut off and depressurize the system fully before cutting into an existing line. Use only PVC-compatible solvent cement rated for Schedule 80 fittings, and allow full cure time before returning the system to service. The union design permits future disassembly for maintenance without disturbing the solvent-cemented pipe runs.
