The IPEX 36731 is a Schedule 80 PVC reducing coupling with socket by socket end connections, sized to transition from a 2-inch line to a 1.5-inch line. Schedule 80 PVC wall thickness delivers higher pressure ratings than Schedule 40, making this fitting suited for demanding industrial and commercial piping applications. The coupling is manufactured to dimensional standards for consistent fit with Schedule 80 pipe and fittings from the same system. It is installed by licensed plumbers and pipefitters working on chemical process lines, industrial fluid handling systems, and potable water distribution.
This coupling is used in residential, commercial, and industrial piping systems where PVC is the specified material. Typical applications include chemical process lines, water treatment, industrial fluid handling, and potable water supply systems. The Schedule 80 rating supports higher operating pressures than standard-weight fittings, making it appropriate for systems that see elevated line pressure or mechanical stress at connection points.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 80 PVC piping systems in industrial, commercial, and potable water applications. Accepts 2-inch Schedule 80 PVC pipe on the larger socket end and 1.5-inch Schedule 80 PVC pipe on the smaller socket end.
This fitting is installed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters using standard PVC solvent cement and primer rated for Schedule 80 pipe. Shut off and depressurize the line completely before cutting or joining. Follow IPC and local plumbing code requirements for solvent-welded PVC joints, including proper cure time before returning the line to service. Do not use solvent cement formulated for Schedule 40 only when joining Schedule 80 fittings.
