The IPEX 36698 is a PVC Schedule 80 spigot x female bushing designed to reduce a 2-inch spigot connection down to a 1-1/4-inch female socket. Schedule 80 PVC offers greater wall thickness than Schedule 40, making it suited for higher-pressure and more demanding industrial and commercial plumbing installations. This bushing is manufactured to strict dimensional standards as part of the IPEX Xirtec PVC system, a complete pipe, valves, and fittings line engineered and produced by a single manufacturer. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in chemical process piping, industrial fluid handling, and general-purpose water distribution systems.
This fitting is appropriate for use in residential, commercial, and industrial piping applications where a reduction from 2-inch to 1-1/4-inch is required. It is rated for potable water service and is listed with the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) and CSA International. The Xirtec PVC system is engineered to handle a wide range of media including acids, alcohols, alkalis, salt solutions, and halogens, making this bushing well-suited for chemical process environments as well as standard plumbing distribution systems.
Designed for use within the IPEX Xirtec PVC Schedule 80 pipe, valves, and fittings system. Suitable for potable water, chemical process, and industrial fluid-handling piping applications requiring a 2-inch spigot to 1-1/4-inch female socket reduction.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber following applicable local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Solvent-cement the spigot end into a Schedule 80 socket using PVC-rated primer and cement; allow full cure time before pressurizing the line. Shut off system water supply and depressurize the line completely before cutting into existing piping. Do not use this fitting with CPVC solvent cement or in thermally incompatible system configurations.
