The IPEX 36693 is a PVC Schedule 80 spigot x female bushing designed to reduce a 1-1/2-inch line down to a 1-inch fitting connection in industrial and commercial piping systems. This bushing is manufactured to Schedule 80 dimensional and pressure standards, making it suitable for demanding chemical process, industrial, and potable water applications. PVC Schedule 80 fittings are recognized for their thick wall construction, which provides greater pressure capacity than Schedule 40 at the same nominal size. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting in systems handling acids, alcohols, alkalis, salt solutions, and halogens where metal corrosion is a concern.
This bushing is suited for use in industrial process piping, chemical handling systems, and potable water distribution. The spigot end inserts into a socket fitting, while the female end accepts a spigot or male-threaded fitting, allowing a straightforward in-line size reduction. It is listed with the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) and CSA International for use with potable water, which qualifies it for both industrial and municipal plumbing installations where code compliance is required.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for PVC Schedule 80 piping systems requiring a 1-1/2-inch to 1-inch spigot x female bushing reduction.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters following applicable IPC or local plumbing code requirements. Shut off and depressurize the system before cutting into any existing line. Use a PVC-compatible primer and Schedule 80-rated solvent cement rated for the service fluid and temperature; do not substitute Schedule 40 cement on Schedule 80 assemblies. Allow full cure time per the cement manufacturer before restoring system pressure.
