The IPEX 36688 is a PVC Schedule 80 spigot x female bushing designed to reduce a 1-1/4 inch spigot connection down to a 1/2 inch female socket. Schedule 80 PVC provides thicker walls than Schedule 40, making it suited for higher-pressure industrial and chemical process piping. This bushing is manufactured to strict dimensional and performance standards for consistent fit and long-term service. It resists rust, corrosion, pitting, and scaling, maintaining a smooth interior bore over the service life of the system. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in industrial, commercial, and process piping applications where a threaded or solvent-weld size reduction is required.
This bushing is used in industrial process piping, chemical handling systems, and commercial plumbing where PVC Schedule 80 fittings are specified. Its chemical resistance profile makes it appropriate for systems carrying most acids, alcohols, alkalis, salt solutions, and halogens. The fitting is listed with the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) and CSA International for use with potable water, broadening its range of acceptable applications. It is part of the IPEX Xirtec PVC system, which is engineered as a complete pipe, valves, and fittings package from a single manufacturer.
Designed as an OEM-style component within the IPEX Xirtec PVC Schedule 80 piping system. Compatible with standard Schedule 80 PVC spigot and socket fittings per applicable dimensional standards. Suitable for chemical process, industrial, and potable water piping applications where Schedule 80 PVC is specified.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable plumbing codes, including the IPC and local jurisdictional requirements. Depressurize and drain the piping system completely before cutting into any existing line. Use only PVC-rated solvent cement and primer appropriate for Schedule 80 fittings and follow manufacturer cure times before returning the system to service. Do not apply excess torque or mechanical stress to solvent-welded joints during assembly.
