The IPEX 36684 is a PVC Schedule 80 reducing bushing with a spigot inlet and female threaded outlet, designed for industrial and commercial piping systems. It transitions from a 3/4-inch spigot connection to a 1/2-inch female thread, making it a reliable fitting for reducing line size within a pressurized system. Schedule 80 PVC offers greater wall thickness than Schedule 40, providing added pressure capacity in demanding service conditions. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in chemical process lines, water treatment systems, and industrial fluid handling applications where corrosion resistance and long service life are required.
This bushing is suited for use in industrial piping systems handling a broad range of acids, alcohols, alkalis, salt solutions, and halogens. Its PVC construction makes it appropriate for potable water service as well, listed with the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) and CSA International for that application. Typical installations include chemical process lines, irrigation systems, water treatment facilities, and similar applications where metal fittings would be subject to corrosion or chemical attack.
Designed as an OEM-style Schedule 80 PVC fitting for industrial and commercial piping systems requiring a 3/4-inch spigot to 1/2-inch female threaded reducing bushing, compatible with standard PVC Schedule 80 pipe and fittings conforming to ASTM dimensional standards.
Installation of PVC Schedule 80 threaded and solvent-welded fittings should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable plumbing codes including the IPC and local jurisdictional requirements. Depressurize and drain the line completely before removing any existing fitting. For the spigot end, use a compatible PVC solvent cement rated for Schedule 80 applications; do not substitute Schedule 40 cement. For threaded connections, apply PTFE thread tape or approved thread sealant and hand-tighten plus one to two turns with a strap wrench — do not over-torque PVC threads, as this will crack the fitting socket.
