The IPEX 36663 is a PVC Schedule 80 male x female reducing bushing designed for industrial and commercial piping systems. It reduces a 1-1/2 inch male threaded connection down to a 1 inch female threaded socket, allowing techs and plumbers to transition between pipe sizes within a single run. Built from Schedule 80 PVC, this bushing delivers heavier wall thickness and greater pressure resistance than Schedule 40 equivalents. It resists rust, pitting, scaling, and corrosion, making it a reliable long-term fit for chemical process lines, water treatment systems, and other demanding fluid-handling applications where metal fittings would degrade.
This bushing is suited for industrial process piping, potable water distribution, and chemical handling systems where PVC is the specified material. The Schedule 80 rating makes it appropriate for higher-pressure applications compared to standard Schedule 40 components. It is typically installed by licensed plumbers and pipefitters working on new construction or retrofit piping projects. Its resistance to a wide range of acids, alkalis, alcohols, salt solutions, and halogens makes it a practical choice for chemical process environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 80 PVC threaded piping systems in industrial, chemical process, and potable water applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and ASTM standards for thermoplastic piping. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Use an appropriate thread sealant rated for PVC and compatible with the conveyed fluid. Do not overtighten threaded PVC connections, as excessive torque can crack the fitting body.
