The IPEX 36660 is a PVC Schedule 80 male x female reducing bushing sized at 1-1/4 inches x 1 inch. It is used to reduce a larger female-threaded fitting or valve to a smaller male-threaded connection within a pressurized piping system. Schedule 80 wall thickness provides added strength over Schedule 40, making this bushing appropriate for industrial, chemical, and plumbing applications where elevated pressure ratings are required. PVC construction delivers excellent resistance to corrosion, rust, scale, and pitting, and the smooth interior bore maintains consistent flow characteristics over the service life of the fitting. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters typically install this component as part of a complete PVC PVF system.
This bushing is suited for use in industrial process piping, chemical handling systems, and commercial or residential plumbing installations where PVC Schedule 80 fittings are specified. It is designed to perform within systems handling a wide range of acids, alcohols, alkalis, salt solutions, and halogens. Its compatibility with potable water applications has been recognized by the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) and CSA International. The fitting integrates into the IPEX Xirtec PVC system, which is engineered and manufactured to consistent dimensional and performance standards across pipe, valves, and fittings.
Designed as an OEM-style component within the IPEX Xirtec PVC Schedule 80 pipe, valves, and fittings system. Suitable for integration into PVC Schedule 80 threaded piping assemblies in industrial and plumbing applications.
Installation of threaded PVC Schedule 80 fittings is typically performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before removing or installing any fitting. Use PTFE thread tape or an appropriate thread sealant rated for PVC and the service fluid — do not use petroleum-based compounds that can degrade PVC. Hand-tighten first, then apply modest additional turns with a strap wrench; avoid over-tightening, which can crack threaded PVC fittings. Follow applicable IPC or local plumbing code requirements for the installation.
