The IPEX 36628 is a PVC Schedule 80 spigot x socket reducing bushing designed for industrial and commercial piping systems where chemical resistance and long-term durability are required. It transitions a 4-inch spigot connection to a 2-inch socket connection. Schedule 80 PVC wall thickness provides added pressure capacity compared to Schedule 40, making it appropriate for demanding process piping applications. The smooth interior bore resists buildup and maintains consistent flow characteristics throughout the service life of the fitting. Licensed plumbers and industrial piping contractors install this bushing as part of a complete PVC pressure piping system.
This bushing is suited for industrial process piping, chemical handling systems, water treatment facilities, and commercial plumbing applications where metal corrosion is a concern. It is listed with NSF and CSA International for use with potable water, broadening its application to municipal and building water supply systems in addition to chemical process lines. It is part of the IPEX Xirtec PVC system, a coordinated pipe, valves, and fittings platform engineered and manufactured to consistent dimensional and performance standards by a single manufacturer.
Designed for use within Schedule 80 PVC pressure piping systems as part of the IPEX Xirtec PVC pipe, valves, and fittings platform. Compatible with standard 4-inch spigot and 2-inch socket Schedule 80 PVC piping components manufactured to ASTM dimensional standards.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified industrial piping technician. Solvent-cement the spigot end into the mating female socket using PVC-rated primer and cement per ASTM D2564 and applicable plumbing code requirements. Ensure the system is fully depressurized and drained before cutting into an existing line. Allow full cure time per the cement manufacturer instructions before restoring flow or pressure to the system.
