The IPEX 36616 is a PVC Schedule 80 reducing bushing with a spigot inlet and socket outlet, sized at 2 inches spigot by 1 inch socket. This fitting is used to transition between pipe runs of different diameters within pressure-rated industrial and commercial piping systems. Schedule 80 PVC offers greater wall thickness than Schedule 40, making it suitable for higher-pressure service. The smooth interior bore resists rust, pitting, scale, and corrosion throughout its service life. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in chemical process lines, industrial fluid handling systems, and potable water distribution where PVC is code-acceptable.
The IPEX 36616 fits into the Xirtec PVC system, a complete Pipe, Valves and Fittings package engineered and manufactured to consistent dimensional and performance standards by a single manufacturer. This approach eliminates fit and compatibility issues common when mixing components from multiple suppliers. The fitting is suited for use in chemical process piping, water treatment, industrial fluid handling, and other applications requiring resistance to acids, alcohols, alkalis, salt solutions, and halogens. It is listed with the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) and CSA International for use with potable water systems.
Designed as an OEM-style component within the IPEX Xirtec PVC Schedule 80 piping system for industrial, chemical process, and potable water applications where 2-inch to 1-inch PVC reducing fittings are required.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off and depressurize the system fully before cutting into any existing line. Solvent-cement the spigot end into the upstream socket and the downstream pipe into the socket end using PVC Schedule 80-compatible cement and primer, following the cement manufacturer's dwell and cure times before returning the system to service. Do not apply heat or use threaded connections on the solvent-weld ends.
