The IPEX 36614 is a PVC Schedule 80 spigot-by-socket bushing used to reduce a 2-inch spigot connection down to a 1/2-inch socket connection in pressure-rated piping systems. Built to Schedule 80 dimensional and pressure standards, this bushing delivers greater wall thickness than Schedule 40 fittings, making it appropriate for industrial and chemical process lines where mechanical strength and chemical resistance are priorities. The smooth interior bore resists rust, scale, pitting, and corrosion, maintaining flow efficiency over the life of the installation. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in both above-ground and in-wall configurations across industrial, commercial, and chemical processing environments.
This bushing is suited for use in PVC Schedule 80 piping systems handling a wide range of aggressive media, including most acids, alcohols, alkalis, salt solutions, and halogens. It is also listed for use with potable water systems per National Sanitation Foundation and CSA International standards, broadening its application to commercial plumbing and water treatment installations. The spigot end mates into a Schedule 80 socket fitting; the socket end accepts a 1/2-inch Schedule 80 pipe or fitting. It is a component within the IPEX Xirtec PVC system, a fully integrated pipe, valves, and fittings package manufactured and backed by a single source.
Designed for use within PVC Schedule 80 pressure piping systems, including the IPEX Xirtec PVC system. The spigot end connects into a standard Schedule 80 PVC socket fitting; the socket end accepts 1/2-inch Schedule 80 PVC pipe or fitting. Suitable for chemical process, industrial, and potable water applications where PVC Schedule 80 is specified.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter in accordance with applicable plumbing codes, including IPC and local authority requirements. Depressurize and drain the piping system fully before cutting into or removing any existing fittings. Solvent-weld joints per ASTM D2564 procedures using a primer and cement rated for PVC Schedule 80; do not substitute Schedule 40 cement. Allow full cure time before restoring system pressure.
