The IPEX 36610 is a PVC Schedule 80 spigot x socket reducing bushing designed for use in industrial and commercial piping systems where chemical resistance and long-term durability are required. It transitions from a 1-1/2 inch spigot connection to a 1/2 inch socket connection, allowing installers to reduce pipe size within a run without additional fittings. The smooth interior bore resists rust, scale, pitting, and corrosion across virtually all service conditions. This fitting is part of the IPEX Xirtec PVC system, engineered and manufactured to consistent dimensional and performance standards for reliable integration into full PVF assemblies.
This bushing is suited for chemical process piping, industrial fluid handling, and general-purpose applications where aggressive media such as acids, alcohols, alkalis, and salt solutions are present. It is also listed for use with potable water by NSF and CSA International, making it appropriate for both process and water service installations. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters typically install Schedule 80 PVC fittings in commercial, industrial, and municipal settings where pressure ratings exceed those of Schedule 40 systems.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation fitting for Schedule 80 PVC piping systems with a 1-1/2 inch spigot inlet and 1/2 inch socket outlet, compatible with solvent-cement joining methods standard to PVC Schedule 80 assemblies.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable plumbing codes, including IPC requirements for plastic piping. Shut off all flow and depressurize the line before cutting or joining fittings. Use only PVC-rated primer and solvent cement rated for Schedule 80 applications, and allow full cure time before restoring system pressure. Do not apply open flame or mechanical heat sources to PVC fittings during or after installation.
