The IPEX 36609 is a PVC Schedule 80 reducing bushing configured with a spigot inlet and a socket outlet, transitioning from 1-1/4 inches down to 1 inch. It is designed for use in industrial and commercial piping systems where size reduction is needed within a continuous PVC Schedule 80 run. The Schedule 80 wall thickness provides greater pressure ratings than Schedule 40, making this bushing suitable for demanding process piping applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in chemical process lines, industrial fluid handling systems, and potable water installations. The smooth interior bore resists scale, rust, and corrosion buildup throughout the service life of the fitting.
This bushing is intended for use in PVC Schedule 80 piping systems found in chemical processing, industrial fluid handling, and potable water distribution. It connects inline wherever a 1-1/4 inch pipe run must be reduced to a 1 inch branch or continuation. The fitting is well suited for environments where exposure to acids, alcohols, alkalis, salt solutions, and halogens is expected. It is also listed for use in potable water systems in accordance with NSF and CSA International standards.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 1-1/4 inch by 1 inch PVC Schedule 80 spigot x socket reducing bushing applications in industrial and potable water piping systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter following applicable IPC and local plumbing code requirements. Shut off flow and depressurize the line completely before cutting into any existing piping. Use PVC Schedule 80 rated solvent cement and primer appropriate for the pipe material and service conditions. Do not apply heat to seat or adjust the fitting, as PVC Schedule 80 fittings are joined by solvent welding only.
