The IPEX 36543 is a Schedule 80 PVC nipple fitting designed for use in pressurized piping systems. It measures 2 inches in diameter and 5 inches in overall length, with male threaded connections on both ends. Manufactured from gray PVC through an injection molding process, the fitting meets ASTM D1784, D1785, and D2467 material specifications. The smooth interior wall reduces pressure drop and supports higher flow volume compared to conventional metal fittings. It carries an NSF listing for potable water applications and is rated to 140 degrees F. Licensed plumbers and pipe fitters are the primary installers of this fitting in both new construction and retrofit piping work.
This nipple is suited for residential and light commercial potable water systems where Schedule 80 PVC pipe is specified. The Schedule 80 wall thickness provides increased pressure handling capability over Schedule 40 in the same nominal pipe size. The fitting is appropriate for above-ground and in-wall installations where chemical and corrosion resistance is a priority, including applications involving treated water or mildly aggressive fluids compatible with PVC.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 80 PVC piping systems using 2-inch nominal pipe size with NPT male threaded connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC requirements. Depressurize and drain the affected piping section before removing any existing fitting. Use thread sealant tape or compound rated for PVC and potable water service when making threaded connections. Do not overtighten threaded PVC fittings, as excessive torque can crack the fitting body.
