The IPEX 36541 is a Schedule 80 PVC nipple fitting designed for use in potable water systems and other fluid-handling applications where chemical resistance and pressure performance are required. Manufactured from gray PVC via injection molding to ASTM D1784, D1785, and D2467 material specifications, this nipple measures 2 inches in diameter with an overall length of 4 inches. Both ends are male threaded for direct connection to female-threaded fittings, valves, or equipment. The Schedule 80 wall thickness provides greater pressure-handling capability than Schedule 40, making it a reliable choice for higher-demand installations. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in residential and commercial piping runs where corrosion-free, long-service-life components are specified.
This nipple is suited for potable water system piping, chemical distribution lines, and industrial fluid-handling setups where PVC is an approved material. The gray Schedule 80 construction handles elevated pressures and offers superior chemical and corrosion resistance compared to metal alternatives. The smooth interior walls reduce friction loss and support higher flow volumes through the system. This fitting is available in inner packs of 25 units, making it practical for contractors and service companies stocking multiple fittings for a project or service vehicle.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 80 PVC piping systems using 2-inch female-threaded connections in potable water and compatible fluid-handling applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC requirements. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Use appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape on male threads and tighten to hand-tight plus a controlled number of turns — do not overtighten PVC threaded fittings, as this can crack the fitting body. PVC is not rated for solvent or high-temperature steam service; verify system temperatures remain within the 140 degrees F rating before installation.
