The IPEX 36539 is a Schedule 80 PVC nipple designed for use in pressurized piping systems. It features a 2-inch diameter and an overall length of 3 inches, with male threaded connections on both ends. Manufactured from gray PVC through an injection molding process, this nipple meets ASTM D1784, D1785, and D2467 material specifications and is rated for service up to 140 degrees F. The smooth interior bore minimizes pressure drop and supports higher flow volume compared to conventional metal fittings. It carries NSF certification for use in potable water applications.
This nipple is suited for residential and light commercial potable water systems where corrosion resistance and reliable pressure handling are required. The Schedule 80 wall thickness provides added strength over Schedule 40 in applications with higher mechanical stress or pressure demands. Plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting where a short, threaded male-to-male connection is needed between valves, couplings, or other threaded fittings. It is sold in inner packs of 25 units, making it practical for contractors stocking common sizes.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation component for Schedule 80 PVC threaded piping systems in potable water applications conforming to ASTM D1784, D1785, and D2467 standards.
This fitting is installed by licensed plumbers working under applicable plumbing codes such as the IPC. Thread connections should be made using approved thread sealant tape or compound rated for PVC and potable water service. Do not use petroleum-based sealants that can degrade PVC. Verify system pressure and temperature do not exceed the rated limits of the fitting before placing the line back into service.
