The IPEX 36533 is a Schedule 80 PVC nipple fitting designed for use in pressurized piping systems where chemical resistance, durability, and reliable thread engagement are required. Measuring 1-1/2 inches in diameter and 6 inches in overall length, this nipple features male threaded connections on both ends and is injection molded from gray PVC conforming to ASTM D1784, D1785, and D2467. The Schedule 80 wall thickness provides improved pressure-handling capability over Schedule 40, making it appropriate for demanding service conditions. Smooth interior walls reduce friction loss and maintain flow volume compared to metal alternatives. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers for this type of fitting.
This nipple is rated for potable water system applications and carries an NSF listing appropriate for that service. It is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing installations where threaded PVC connections are specified. The 140 degrees F temperature rating aligns with cold and warm water distribution service but should be verified against system operating conditions before installation. Fittings of this type are commonly used in supply lines, manifold assemblies, and transition points where a short threaded extension between two female-threaded components is needed. Each inner pack contains 25 pieces, making this practical for contractors stocking a job or supply counter.
Designed as an OEM-style threaded nipple for Schedule 80 PVC piping systems rated for potable water service. Compatible with standard 1-1/2 inch female NPT fittings, valves, and threaded Schedule 80 PVC components meeting ASTM D1784, D1785, and D2467 material specifications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC requirements. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Use thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for PVC and potable water service. Do not over-torque threaded PVC fittings, as excessive force can crack the fitting body; hand-tight plus a controlled partial turn with a strap wrench is the accepted practice.
