The IPEX 36531 is a PVC Schedule 80 nipple fitting designed for use in pressurized piping systems handling potable water and chemically aggressive fluids. Measuring 1.5 inches in diameter and 5 inches in overall length, this nipple features male threaded connections on both ends and is injection molded from gray PVC conforming to ASTM D1784, D1785, and D2467. The Schedule 80 wall thickness provides substantially improved pressure handling capability compared to Schedule 40, and the smooth interior bore reduces pressure loss and supports higher flow volume than conventional metal fittings. It carries a lifetime limited warranty and meets NSF standards for potable water applications.
This fitting is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing, water treatment, and industrial process piping where PVC is the specified material. It is a standard choice in potable water distribution systems, irrigation headers, and chemical-handling lines where corrosion resistance and long service life are required. The gray finish is standard for Schedule 80 PVC, making it easy to distinguish from Schedule 40 components on the job. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in both new construction and retrofit applications. Packaged in quantities of 25 per inner pack, it is practical for multi-fixture rough-ins and service work alike.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-stock fitting for 1.5-inch Schedule 80 PVC piping systems using NPT-threaded connections in potable water and compatible fluid-handling applications.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers following applicable IPC and local plumbing code requirements. Shut off and depressurize the water system completely before threading or unthreading any fittings. Use an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for PVC and potable water service. Do not over-torque threaded PVC fittings, as excess force can crack the fitting body.
