The IPEX 36522 is a Schedule 80 PVC nipple fitting designed for pressure piping systems in potable water and industrial applications. Measuring 1-1/4 inches in diameter and 6 inches in overall length, it features male threaded connections on both ends for straightforward installation into threaded fittings, valves, or equipment ports. Manufactured from gray PVC conforming to ASTM D1784, D1785, and D2467, the nipple delivers reliable chemical and corrosion resistance with a smooth interior bore that reduces pressure loss compared to metal alternatives. The injection-molded construction places material reinforcement in stress concentration areas for improved pressure handling at the rated 140 degrees F service temperature.
This nipple is suited for residential and light commercial potable water systems, irrigation lines, and chemical distribution piping where Schedule 80 wall thickness is specified. It is NSF-listed for potable water contact, making it appropriate for installations subject to plumbing code requirements in both new construction and retrofit work. The 6-inch length accommodates typical close-nipple spacing needs where a standard close or short nipple does not provide adequate thread engagement or offset distance. Plumbers and pipefitters working with Schedule 80 PVC systems will find this fitting a direct-use component requiring no modification.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation component for 1-1/4 inch Schedule 80 PVC threaded piping systems meeting ASTM D1784, D1785, and D2467 material specifications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with local plumbing codes and ASTM standards for threaded PVC fittings. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before removing or installing any threaded component. Use thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for PVC and potable water service — do not use petroleum-based pipe dopes incompatible with PVC. Avoid over-tightening threaded connections, as excessive torque can crack Schedule 80 PVC fittings.
