The IPEX 36509 is a Schedule 80 PVC nipple fitting designed for use in pressurized piping systems where chemical resistance and long service life are required. Measuring 1 inch in diameter and 5 inches in overall length, it features male threaded connections on both ends for direct installation into threaded fittings, valves, or equipment ports. Manufactured from gray PVC with a smooth interior wall, it is injection molded to ASTM D1784, D1785, and D2467 material specifications and carries NSF certification for potable water applications. Rated to 140 degrees F, it suits a wide range of residential and light commercial water system installations.
This nipple is suited for potable water distribution systems, irrigation headers, chemical feed lines, and general-purpose PVC piping assemblies. Its Schedule 80 wall thickness provides increased pressure handling capability compared to Schedule 40, making it appropriate for applications where higher system pressures or added mechanical strength are required. The fitting ships in packs of 25, making it practical for contractors stocking common sizes for recurring service work or new construction plumbing rough-in.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 1-inch Schedule 80 PVC threaded piping systems meeting ASTM D1784, D1785, and D2467 specifications.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified pipefitters in accordance with local plumbing codes and IPC requirements. Shut off system pressure and drain the line before removing or installing threaded fittings. Use thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for PVC and potable water applications. Do not overtighten threaded PVC connections, as the material is susceptible to cracking under excessive torque.
