The IPEX 36498 is a Schedule 80 PVC nipple fitting designed for use in pressurized plumbing systems where chemical resistance and long service life are priorities. Measuring 0.75 inches in diameter and 6 inches in overall length, this nipple features male threaded connections on both ends. Injection molded from gray PVC conforming to ASTM D1784, D1785, and D2467, it is rated for potable water service up to 140 degrees F. The smooth interior bore reduces pressure loss and maintains flow volume compared to conventional metal fittings. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in new construction and retrofit applications.
This nipple is suited for residential and light commercial potable water systems where corrosion resistance and reliable pressure handling are required. The Schedule 80 wall thickness provides greater pressure capability than Schedule 40, making it appropriate for higher-demand service lines, irrigation supply runs, and chemical transfer applications where PVC is code-approved. The male threaded x male threaded configuration allows direct connection between two female-threaded fittings, valves, or equipment ports. It is NSF-listed for potable water contact, supporting use in systems governed by health and safety codes.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 0.75-inch Schedule 80 PVC piping systems using NPT-threaded connections in potable water and compatible fluid-handling applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC requirements. Shut off and depressurize the supply line before removing any existing fitting. Use appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for PVC and potable water service on all threaded joints. Do not overtighten threaded PVC connections, as this can crack the fitting body.
