The IPEX 36420 is a 1/2 inch PVC Schedule 80 Socket x Male Threaded Adapter designed for industrial and commercial piping systems. This fitting connects socket-style PVC pipe to male NPT threaded components, making it a standard transition piece in chemical process piping, water treatment, and industrial fluid handling applications. Schedule 80 PVC provides greater wall thickness and pressure rating compared to Schedule 40, giving it added durability in demanding service environments. The smooth interior bore resists rust, pitting, scale, and corrosion throughout its service life. Licensed plumbers and industrial pipefitters install this adapter as part of the IPEX Xirtec PVC piping system, which is engineered and manufactured to consistent dimensional and performance standards.
This adapter is suited for chemical process piping, potable water systems, and industrial fluid distribution lines where corrosion resistance and long service life are priorities. It performs well in contact with most acids, alcohols, alkalis, salt solutions, and halogens. Its listing with the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) and CSA International confirms suitability for potable water service. The fitting is intended for systems that require the higher pressure ratings of Schedule 80 PVC in 1/2 inch nominal pipe size applications.
Designed as an OEM-style component within the IPEX Xirtec PVC Schedule 80 piping system. Compatible with standard 1/2 inch Schedule 80 PVC socket pipe on the socket end and standard male NPT threaded fittings or valves on the threaded end.
Installation of PVC Schedule 80 fittings is typically performed by licensed plumbers or industrial pipefitters following applicable codes such as the International Plumbing Code (IPC) or local equivalents. Shut off and depressurize the piping system fully before beginning any fitting work. Use an approved PVC primer and solvent cement on the socket end per manufacturer instructions and applicable code; do not dry-fit and assume the joint is complete. Allow full cure time before re-pressurizing the system.
