The IPEX 36214 is a 1-1/4 inch PVC Schedule 80 Socket x Female Threaded Adapter designed for industrial and commercial piping systems. This fitting connects a solvent-weld socket end to a female NPT threaded port, allowing transitions between glued PVC pipe and threaded pipe or equipment. The Schedule 80 wall thickness provides greater pressure capacity compared to Schedule 40, making it suited for higher-demand process piping. Licensed plumbers and industrial pipefitters install this fitting in chemical process lines, water treatment systems, and other applications where corrosion resistance and durability are required.
This adapter is used in residential, commercial, and industrial piping installations where PVC Schedule 80 fittings are specified. It performs reliably in systems handling acids, alcohols, alkalis, salt solutions, and halogens. The NSF and CSA International listings make it appropriate for potable water service as well as industrial process lines. It is a common choice for chemical feed systems, irrigation headers, and industrial fluid handling where metal fittings would be subject to corrosion or chemical attack.
Designed as an OEM-style fitting within the IPEX Xirtec PVC Schedule 80 piping system, engineered and dimensioned to IPEX quality and performance standards for use with compatible Schedule 80 PVC pipe and fittings.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter in accordance with applicable plumbing codes such as the IPC. Solvent-cement the socket end using PVC-rated primer and cement following manufacturer cure time guidelines before pressurizing the system. Hand-tighten the female threaded connection first, then apply wrench turns as appropriate for the thread engagement; avoid over-torquing threaded PVC connections, which can cause cracking. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before cutting into existing lines or removing any fittings.
