The IPEX 36213 is a 1-inch PVC Schedule 80 Socket x Female Threaded Adapter designed for industrial and commercial piping systems. This fitting connects plain-end pipe via solvent-cement socket on one end to a female NPT threaded connection on the other, allowing transitions between solvent-welded and threaded piping runs. Built to Schedule 80 dimensional and pressure standards, it delivers greater wall thickness and higher pressure ratings than Schedule 40 equivalents. The smooth interior bore resists rust, scaling, and corrosion, making it a dependable choice for chemical process lines, industrial fluid handling, and potable water distribution where metal fittings would be subject to degradation.
This adapter is suited for use in chemical processing, industrial fluid transfer, and water treatment applications where resistance to acids, alcohols, alkalis, salt solutions, and halogens is required. It is also rated for potable water service and listed with the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) and CSA International, making it appropriate for installations where water quality compliance is required. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters working on industrial process lines and commercial plumbing systems are the primary installers of this fitting.
Designed for use with 1-inch PVC Schedule 80 pipe and fittings in solvent-cement and threaded piping systems. Part of the IPEX Xirtec PVC system, engineered for compatibility across IPEX pipe, valves, and fittings within that product line.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable plumbing codes such as the IPC. Shut off and depressurize the piping system completely before cutting into any existing line. The socket end requires proper PVC solvent cement and primer applied per the cement manufacturer instructions and ASTM D2564 guidelines. Do not over-torque the female threaded end when engaging a male-threaded fitting, as PVC threads are susceptible to cracking under excessive mechanical force.
