The IPEX 36187 is a 2.5-inch PVC Schedule 80 90-degree elbow with socket-by-socket connections, designed for industrial and commercial piping systems. It handles direction changes in pressure lines and gravity-flow drain configurations. This fitting is rated for continuous service up to 140 degrees F in pressure applications and up to 180 degrees F for intermittent gravity flow. The Schedule 80 wall thickness provides added mechanical strength compared to Schedule 40, making it well suited for chemical process lines, industrial fluid handling, and other demanding service environments. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters typically install this component as part of a larger PVC piping system.
This elbow is used in industrial process piping, chemical distribution lines, water treatment facilities, and commercial plumbing applications where corrosion resistance and chemical compatibility are required. It is listed with the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) and CSA International for use with potable water systems. The smooth interior bore minimizes friction loss and resists scaling, rusting, and pitting across a broad range of service fluids including most acids, alcohols, alkalis, salt solutions, and halogens. It is a direct replacement for metal elbows in systems where weight reduction and corrosion immunity are priorities.
Designed as an OEM-style fitting for Schedule 80 PVC piping systems using solvent-cement socket connections in industrial, chemical process, and commercial plumbing applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter following applicable IPC and local plumbing code requirements. Depressurize and drain the line completely before cutting into an existing system. Use a PVC-rated primer and Schedule 80-compatible solvent cement, and allow full cure time before restoring flow or pressure. Do not apply heat or use threaded adapters directly into the socket ends without proper transition fittings.
