The IPEX 36148 is a 1-1/2 inch PVC Schedule 80 45-degree elbow with socket x socket end connections. It is part of the Xirtec PVC industrial piping system, engineered for demanding chemical process and industrial fluid handling applications. The fitting handles a maximum service temperature of 140 degrees F in pressure service and up to 180 degrees F for intermittent gravity flow. Its smooth interior bore resists rust, pitting, scale, and corrosion throughout its service life. Licensed plumbers and industrial pipefitters install this fitting in process lines where directional changes must be made at a 45-degree angle without the maintenance burden of metal alternatives.
This elbow is suited for use in chemical processing, industrial fluid distribution, water treatment, and general-purpose piping systems. It performs reliably in lines carrying most acids, alcohols, alkalis, salt solutions, and halogens. The fitting is listed with the National Sanitation Foundation and CSA International, making it acceptable for potable water service as well as industrial applications where NSF compliance is required. Its Schedule 80 wall thickness provides additional pressure capacity compared to Schedule 40 fittings of the same nominal size.
Designed for use within the IPEX Xirtec PVC Schedule 80 pipe, valve, and fittings system. Compatible with 1-1/2 inch Schedule 80 PVC pipe joined by solvent cement per ASTM D2672 and applicable installation standards.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified industrial pipefitters. Depressurize and drain the line completely before cutting into any existing piping. Use a PVC-rated solvent cement and primer appropriate for Schedule 80 fittings and follow manufacturer cure times before returning the line to service. Work in a well-ventilated area when applying solvent cement, and observe applicable plumbing codes including IPC and local amendments.
