The IPEX 36098 is a 4-inch PVC Schedule 80 socket-by-socket coupling designed for joining same-diameter pipe sections in industrial and commercial piping systems. Built to Schedule 80 dimensional and pressure standards, this coupling offers greater wall thickness than Schedule 40, making it suitable for higher-pressure applications. The PVC construction resists rust, pitting, scale, and corrosion, keeping interior walls smooth throughout the service life of the installation. It is rated for use with a broad range of acids, alcohols, salts, and halogens, and carries NSF and CSA International listings for potable water service.
This coupling is used in chemical processing, industrial fluid handling, and water distribution piping systems where corrosion resistance and long service life are priorities. The socket-by-socket end configuration accepts solvent-cemented PVC pipe on both ends, making it a straightforward connection in both new construction and retrofit installations. It is appropriate for both above-ground and in-wall applications where Schedule 80 fittings are specified by the engineer or code.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 4-inch Schedule 80 PVC piping systems using solvent-cement socket connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with the International Plumbing Code and applicable local codes. Shut off and depressurize the system before cutting or modifying any piping. Use only PVC-rated solvent cement and primer appropriate for Schedule 80 fittings, and allow full cure time before restoring flow. Do not apply heat or use open-flame tools near PVC components during installation.
