The IPEX 257545 is a 4-inch flame-retardant polypropylene (FRPP) fusion fabricated acid waste cap designed for use in the Enfield electrofusion-joint drainage system. It is manufactured from FRPP with an operating temperature range of -10 degrees F to 212 degrees F, allowing systems to be flushed with boiling water without degrading joint integrity. The cap terminates acid waste drainage lines and is installed using the Enfield Enfusion microprocessor-controlled fusion unit, which produces secure, repeatable joints in approximately two minutes. Licensed plumbers and mechanical contractors working on chemical waste drainage systems are the primary installers of this fitting.
The IPEX 257545 is suited for non-return-air-plenum chemical waste drainage applications in laboratory, industrial, and institutional settings where corrosive effluent management is required. The Enfield FRPP system is designed as a matched pipe-and-fitting system, meaning fittings and pipe are produced to the same dimensional and material standards to ensure consistent fusion quality throughout the installation. The FRPP material resists a broad range of corrosive chemicals and complies with ASTM F1412 for polyolefin corrosive waste drainage systems and ASTM D4101 for polypropylene injection and extrusion materials. All fittings are listed to NSF 14 and IAPMO standards.
Designed for use within the IPEX Enfield electrofusion-joint system for FRPP acid waste pipe and fittings complying with ASTM F1412. A non-flame-retardant polypropylene (NFRPP) version of the Enfield system is also available separately for applications where flame retardancy is not required.
Installation of electrofusion acid waste fittings is typically performed by licensed plumbers in accordance with the International Plumbing Code (IPC) and applicable local amendments for chemical waste drainage systems. The Enfusion microprocessor-controlled fusion unit must be used to produce properly fused joints; do not attempt heat-gun or solvent-weld methods on electrofusion fittings. Drain and neutralize the waste system before servicing or adding to an existing line. Verify that all pipe and fittings are from the matched Enfield FRPP system before fusing to ensure dimensional compatibility and joint reliability.
