The IPEX 257473 is a flame-retardant polypropylene (FRPP) reducing bushing designed for chemical and acid waste drainage systems. Part of the Enfield electrofusion-joint system, this fusion x spigot fitting transitions a 3-inch line down to a 1-1/2-inch connection in corrosive waste piping installations. The FRPP material carries an operating temperature range of -10 degrees F to 212 degrees F, allowing systems to be flushed with boiling water without fitting degradation. Licensed plumbers and mechanical contractors install this fitting in laboratory, industrial, and commercial facilities where chemical-resistant drain systems are required. It complies with ASTM F1412 and ASTM D4101 material standards and is listed to NSF 14 and IAPMO.
The 257473 bushing is used in non-return-air plenum chemical waste drain applications where standard PVC or ABS fittings are not chemically compatible. The Enfield system is engineered for corrosive waste drainage in schools, hospitals, research laboratories, semiconductor fabrication facilities, and similar environments. The electrofusion joint method produces a secure, leak-resistant connection in approximately two minutes, making it practical for installations with multiple joints or restricted access locations.
Designed for use within the IPEX Enfield electrofusion acid waste drainage system. Compatible with Enfield FRPP pipe and fittings manufactured to ASTM F1412. A non-flame-retardant polypropylene (NFRPP) version is also available separately for non-plenum applications.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IAPMO standards. The Enfield Enfusion microprocessor-controlled fusion unit is required to make electrofusion joints; do not attempt to join Enfield fittings with solvent cement or mechanical methods. Shut off and drain the waste system completely before cutting into existing lines. Follow the manufacturer's fusion procedure for pipe preparation, insertion depth, and cooling time to ensure joint integrity.
