The IPEX 257472 is a flame-retardant polypropylene (FRPP) reducing bushing designed for chemical and acid waste drainage systems. Part of the Enfield electrofusion-joint system, this fitting connects 2-inch fusion sockets to 1-1/2-inch spigot ends in non-return-air plenum chemical waste piping. The polypropylene construction provides an operating temperature range of -10 degrees F to 212 degrees F, allowing systems to be flushed with boiling water without degrading the joint or fitting. It is listed to NSF 14 and IAPMO standards and complies with ASTM F1412 and ASTM D4101. Licensed plumbers and mechanical contractors working on corrosive waste systems are the primary installers of this fitting.
The 257472 is suited for corrosive and acid waste drain lines in laboratory, industrial, educational, and healthcare facilities where chemical resistance is required. The Enfield system is intended for virtually all non-return-air plenum chemical waste applications. The electrofusion joint method allows multiple joints to be made simultaneously, reducing installation time compared to traditional glass or PVC drain systems. The FRPP material is also available in a non-flame-retardant polypropylene (NFRPP) version upon request.
Designed for use within the IPEX Enfield electrofusion-joint system for non-return-air plenum chemical waste drainage applications using FRPP or NFRPP pipe and fittings.
Installation of the Enfield electrofusion system requires the Microprocessor-controlled Enfusion unit to ensure repeatable, secure joints — do not attempt fusion without the proper control unit. Licensed plumbers or mechanical contractors should perform installation in accordance with applicable plumbing codes such as the IPC. Shut off all flow and depressurize the line before cutting in or replacing fittings. Follow the manufacturer's fusion procedure for socket terminal connections; the heavy-duty terminal posts include protection ears that must remain undamaged for a proper electrical connection.
