The IPEX 257401 is a flame-retardant polypropylene (FRPP) reducing wye fitting designed for chemical and acid waste drainage systems using the Enfield electrofusion-joint platform. At 4 inches by 2 inches, it transitions flow between two pipe sizes within a corrosive waste piping network. The FRPP material handles an operating temperature range of -10 degrees F to 212 degrees F, allowing systems to be flushed with boiling water without fitting degradation. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting using the Microprocessor-controlled Enfusion unit, which delivers repeatable, secure joints in approximately 2 minutes per connection. It is listed to NSF 14 and certified by IAPMO.
The 257401 is intended for non-return-air plenum chemical waste applications in laboratories, manufacturing facilities, hospitals, and other commercial or industrial environments where corrosive drainage is present. The Enfield system is built around matched pipe and fittings, so this reducing wye is designed to pair directly with IPEX Enfield FRPP pipe of the corresponding sizes. A non-flame-retardant polypropylene (NFRPP) version is available separately for applications where flame-retardant classification is not required.
Designed for use within the IPEX Enfield electrofusion system. Compatible with IPEX Enfield FRPP pipe and fittings for corrosive chemical waste drainage. NFRPP pipe and fittings are also available from IPEX for non-flame-retardant applications upon request.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters using the IPEX Microprocessor-controlled Enfusion unit; do not attempt fusion joints with generic heat tools. Shut off all flow and verify the system is depressurized and drained before cutting into an existing line. Follow applicable plumbing codes, including IPC and local authority requirements, for chemical waste drainage systems. Inspect socket terminals and pipe ends for contamination before fusion, as debris at the joint interface can compromise bond integrity.
