The IPEX 257400 is a 4-inch flame-retardant polypropylene (FRPP) electrofusion wye fitting designed for chemical and acid waste drainage systems. Part of the IPEX Enfield electrofusion-joint system, this fitting uses heavy-gauge resistance wire molded directly into the socket to produce controlled, repeatable fusion joints without loose components. The Enfield system is engineered for non-return-air-plenum chemical waste applications where corrosion resistance and joint integrity are critical. Licensed plumbers and mechanical contractors install this fitting in laboratory, industrial, and commercial drainage systems where aggressive chemicals rule out cast iron or PVC.
The 257400 wye is suited for horizontal and vertical branch connections in corrosive waste drainage systems. The Enfield FRPP material operates across a temperature range of -10 degrees F to 212 degrees F, allowing the system to handle boiling-water flush cycles without fitting distortion or joint failure. It is appropriate for chemical waste applications in healthcare, research, semiconductor fabrication, and industrial facilities where non-metallic, acid-resistant drainage is required.
Designed for use within the IPEX Enfield electrofusion pipe and fitting system for corrosive and acid waste drainage. Pipe and fittings in the Enfield system are matched to each other for dimensional consistency and joint reliability. Compliant with ASTM F1412 and ASTM D4101 material specifications, and listed to NSF 14 and IAPMO standards.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers familiar with electrofusion joining procedures. The Enfield Enfusion microprocessor-controlled fusion unit is required to complete joints — do not attempt to fuse connections with non-matched or uncalibrated equipment. Shut down any flow in the drainage system and ensure pipe ends are clean, dry, and free of debris before initiating a fusion cycle. Follow applicable plumbing codes including IPC and IAPMO installation guidelines for chemical waste drainage systems.
