The IPEX 257371 is a 1-1/2-inch flame-retardant polypropylene (FRPP) electrofusion wye fitting designed for chemical and acid waste drainage systems. Part of the Enfield electrofusion-joint system, this wye uses a heavy-gauge resistance wire molded directly into the socket to produce controlled, repeatable fusion joints. The fitting is rated for continuous service from -10 degrees F to 212 degrees F, allowing drainage systems to be flushed with boiling water without compromising joint integrity. Licensed plumbers and mechanical contractors install this fitting in corrosive waste drain, waste, and vent systems where chemical resistance and leak-free connections are critical.
The IPEX 257371 is suited for non-return-air plenum chemical waste applications in laboratory, industrial, and institutional facilities. The Enfield FRPP system complies with ASTM F1412 for polyolefin pipe and fittings for corrosive waste drainage and with ASTM D4101 for polypropylene injection and extrusion materials. All fittings in the Enfield line are listed to NSF 14 and carry IAPMO listing, meeting the compliance requirements for most commercial and institutional plumbing codes.
Designed for use within the IPEX Enfield electrofusion pipe and fittings system for corrosive waste drainage. Pipe and fittings are matched within the Enfield system to ensure dimensional consistency and fusion reliability. A non-flame-retardant polypropylene (NFRPP) version is also available for applications where flame retardancy is not required.
Installation requires a microprocessor-controlled Enfusion electrofusion unit to ensure proper joint fusion and repeatability — do not attempt fusion with generic heat sources. Shut off all flow and depressurize or drain the waste system before cutting into existing lines. Follow IPC and IFGC guidelines as applicable for chemical waste drainage installations, and verify local authority having jurisdiction (AHJ) acceptance of FRPP systems prior to rough-in. Pipe preparation, including clean cuts and clean socket surfaces, is critical to achieving a reliable electrofusion joint.
