The IPEX 257293 is a 2-inch flame-retardant polypropylene (FRPP) fusion by spigot 90-degree elbow designed for corrosive chemical waste drainage systems. Part of the IPEX Enfield electrofusion-joint system, this fitting is manufactured from FRPP with an operating temperature range of -10 degrees F to 212 degrees F, allowing systems to be flushed with boiling water without compromising joint integrity. The electrofusion connection method uses heavy-gauge resistance wire molded directly into the socket, eliminating loose components and producing controlled, repeatable fusion joints in approximately 2 minutes. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in chemical waste piping systems where corrosion resistance and joint reliability are critical.
This elbow is suited for non-return air plenum chemical waste applications in laboratory, industrial, and commercial settings where acids and corrosive effluents are present. The Enfield system is designed to reduce installed cost compared to borosilicate glass drain systems while eliminating breakage risk. Multiple joints can be made simultaneously during installation, reducing labor time on larger projects. The matched pipe-and-fitting system is engineered for ease of installation even in confined or difficult-access areas.
Designed for use within the IPEX Enfield electrofusion-joint system for FRPP corrosive waste drainage pipe and fittings. Pipe and fittings comply with ASTM F1412 Standard Specification for Polyolefin Pipe and Fittings for Corrosive Waste Drainage Systems and are listed to NSF 14 and IAPMO standards.
Installation requires a microprocessor-controlled electrofusion unit (Enfusion) and should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter familiar with electrofusion joining procedures. The system must be de-pressurized and drained before any fitting replacement or modification. Follow all applicable plumbing codes, including IPC and IFGC provisions governing chemical waste drainage. Do not substitute standard polypropylene fittings in FRPP-required applications.
