The IPEX 257191 is a 1-1/2 inch flame-retardant polypropylene (FRPP) 45-degree elbow designed for use in electrofusion acid waste drain systems. Part of the Enfield electrofusion-joint system, this fitting uses a heavy-gauge resistance wire molded directly into the socket to produce controlled, repeatable fusion joints. A microprocessor-controlled fusion unit drives the process, completing secure joints in approximately 2 minutes. Licensed plumbers install this fitting in chemical waste drainage systems where resistance to corrosive fluids and compliance with recognized standards are required. The Enfield system is listed to NSF 14 and certified by IAPMO.
The 257191 elbow is suited for non-return-air-plenum chemical waste drainage applications in laboratory, industrial, and commercial facilities. The FRPP material handles an operating temperature range of -10 degrees F to 212 degrees F, allowing systems to be flushed with boiling water without degradation. Where flame-retardant properties are not required, a black non-flame-retardant polypropylene (NFRPP) version is available. The Enfield system is engineered so that pipe and fittings are matched to one another, simplifying installation and promoting long-term reliability.
Designed for use within the IPEX Enfield electrofusion-joint system for corrosive waste drainage. Pipe and fittings in the Enfield FRPP and NFRPP product lines comply with ASTM F1412 standard specification for polyolefin pipe and fittings for corrosive waste drainage systems, and material complies with ASTM D4101 for polypropylene injection and extrusion materials.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers following applicable plumbing codes, including IPC provisions for chemical waste drainage systems. De-energize and isolate the drainage system before cutting into any existing lines. Fusion joints require the Enfield Enfusion microprocessor-controlled unit — do not attempt heat-gun or solvent-weld joining methods with this fitting. Verify pipe and fitting surfaces are clean and dry before initiating the fusion cycle to ensure full joint integrity.
