The IPEX 257172 is a 2-inch flame-retardant polypropylene (FRPP) fusion sweep 90 elbow designed for chemical and acid waste drainage systems. Part of the Enfield electrofusion-joint system, this fitting uses a heavy-gauge resistance wire molded directly into the socket to produce a controlled, repeatable fusion joint in approximately 2 minutes. The FRPP material carries an operating temperature range of -10 degrees F to 212 degrees F, allowing systems to be flushed with boiling water without compromising fitting integrity. Licensed plumbers and mechanical contractors install this fitting in corrosive waste piping systems where chemical resistance and joint reliability are the primary concerns.
The IPEX 257172 is intended for non-return-air-plenum chemical waste drain applications in laboratory, industrial, and institutional settings. The Enfield system is suited for installations where glass or PVC piping presents chemical incompatibility or breakage risk. Because multiple joints can be fused simultaneously using a microprocessor-controlled Enfusion unit, this fitting supports efficient installation even in congested or difficult-access areas. The sweep geometry reduces flow resistance and minimizes solids accumulation at the elbow transition.
Designed for use within the IPEX Enfield electrofusion acid waste piping system. Complies with ASTM F1412 for polyolefin pipe and fittings for corrosive waste drainage systems and ASTM D4101 for polypropylene injection and extrusion materials. Listed to NSF 14 and IAPMO standards.
Installation must be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified mechanical contractor familiar with electrofusion joining procedures and applicable plumbing codes, including IPC requirements for chemical waste systems. De-energize and drain the system completely before cutting into any existing acid waste line. Use only the compatible Enfield Enfusion microprocessor-controlled fusion unit to ensure proper joint formation. Follow the manufacturer joining procedure for pipe preparation, insertion depth, and fusion cycle to achieve a secure, leak-free connection.
