The IPEX 257171 is a 1-1/2 inch flame-retardant polypropylene (FRPP) fusion sweep 90 elbow designed for chemical and acid waste drainage systems. Part of the Enfield electrofusion-joint system, it uses a microprocessor-controlled fusion process to create secure, repeatable joints in approximately 2 minutes. Heavy-gauge resistance wire is molded directly into the socket, eliminating loose components and ensuring controlled, consistent fusion. The fitting handles an operating temperature range from -10 degrees F to 212 degrees F, making it suitable for systems that require periodic hot-water flushing. Licensed plumbers and corrosive-waste system installers handle this fitting in laboratory, industrial, and institutional drain applications.
The IPEX 257171 is intended for non-return-air-plenum chemical waste drainage installations where corrosive or acid-bearing effluent is present. Typical settings include laboratories, pharmaceutical facilities, schools, and industrial process areas where polypropylene's chemical resistance outperforms cast iron or glass drainage alternatives. The Enfield system allows multiple joints to be prepared simultaneously, reducing overall installation time compared to traditional solvent-weld or glass systems. All Enfield FRPP pipe and fittings comply with ASTM F1412 and ASTM D4101 material requirements, and are listed to NSF 14 and IAPMO standards.
Designed for use within the IPEX Enfield electrofusion-joint system for corrosive and acid waste drainage. Compatible with Enfield FRPP and NFRPP pipe and fittings conforming to ASTM F1412. Intended for non-return-air-plenum chemical waste applications only.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified corrosive-waste system installer familiar with electrofusion jointing procedures. Shut off all flow and depressurize the drain system before cutting into existing piping. Use the Enfield Enfusion microprocessor-controlled fusion unit — do not attempt to fuse joints with unapproved heat sources. Follow applicable plumbing code requirements, including IPC and IAPMO standards, for chemical waste drainage system installation and inspection.
