The IPEX 257131 is a 1-1/2 inch flame-retardant polypropylene (FRPP) female adapter designed for the Enfield electrofusion-joint system. It connects chemical waste drainage piping using a microprocessor-controlled fusion process that produces a secure, repeatable joint in approximately two minutes. The FRPP material has an operating temperature range of -10 degrees F to 212 degrees F, allowing drainage systems to be flushed with boiling water. This adapter is manufactured to ASTM F1412 and ASTM D4101 specifications and is listed to NSF 14 and IAPMO standards. It is installed by licensed plumbers working on laboratory, industrial, or institutional chemical waste systems.
The IPEX 257131 is used in non-return-air-plenum chemical waste drainage applications where corrosion resistance and flame retardancy are required. Typical installations include laboratory buildings, pharmaceutical facilities, schools, and light industrial sites where acids, bases, and other corrosive waste streams must be safely conveyed. The Enfield system accommodates multiple simultaneous joints, reducing labor time compared to glass or other traditional acid-waste piping materials. FRPP pipe and fittings in this system are matched to ensure consistent fusion quality and long-term reliability.
Designed for use within the IPEX Enfield electrofusion acid-waste system for non-return-air-plenum chemical waste drainage applications. Pipe and fittings must be from the matched Enfield system to ensure proper fusion. A non-flame-retardant polypropylene (NFRPP) version is also available for applications where flame retardancy is not required.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable plumbing codes including IPC requirements for chemical waste drainage systems. Shut off all flow to the drain system before making or disturbing any connections. Use the IPEX Enfusion microprocessor-controlled fusion unit as specified by the system manufacturer — do not attempt fusion with unapproved heat sources or tools. Inspect terminal posts and socket ends for contamination before joining, as surface cleanliness is critical to a reliable electrofusion bond.
