The IPEX 257122 is a 2-inch flame-retardant polypropylene (FRPP) fusion acid waste male adapter, part of the Enfield electrofusion-joint system. It is designed for chemical and corrosive waste drainage in non-return-air plenum applications. The fitting uses an electrofusion joining method with heavy-gauge resistance wire molded directly into the socket, producing a secure, reliable joint in approximately 2 minutes. Licensed plumbers and mechanical contractors install this fitting in laboratories, industrial facilities, and commercial buildings where aggressive chemical waste discharge is present. The FRPP material is rated for an operating temperature range of -10 degrees F to 212 degrees F, allowing systems to be flushed with boiling water.
This adapter is suited for corrosive waste drain systems in commercial and institutional settings, including laboratories, manufacturing facilities, schools, and hospitals. It connects polypropylene acid waste pipe to male-threaded drainage points within the Enfield system. The Enfield line is manufactured to comply with ASTM F1412 for polyolefin pipe and fittings used in corrosive waste drainage, and the base material meets ASTM D4101 for polypropylene injection and extrusion materials. The system is listed to NSF 14 and IAPMO standards. A non-flame-retardant polypropylene (NFRPP) version is available separately upon request.
Designed for use within the IPEX Enfield electrofusion acid waste system for corrosive waste drainage applications complying with ASTM F1412. Connects to Enfield FRPP pipe and fittings. An NFRPP version of the system is available upon request for non-plenum applications where flame-retardant classification is not required.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber familiar with electrofusion polypropylene systems and applicable plumbing codes, including IPC and IAPMO standards. Shut off all flow and depressurize the drain system before making or disturbing any fusion joint. Use only the compatible microprocessor-controlled Enfusion unit to ensure proper joint cycle completion — do not attempt heat-gun or open-flame fusion on FRPP fittings. Allow fusion joints to cool fully before restoring flow or pressure-testing the line.
