The IPEX 257121 is a 1-1/2 inch flame-retardant polypropylene (FRPP) male adapter designed for the Enfield electrofusion joint system. It connects chemical waste drain lines using fusion joints that form in approximately 2 minutes, creating a secure, repeatable bond without loose fittings or mechanical fasteners. Heavy-gauge resistance wire is molded directly into the socket, giving the joint controlled fusion and long-term structural integrity. This adapter is built for non-return-air plenum chemical waste applications and is manufactured to meet ASTM F1412 and ASTM D4101 material standards. Plumbing professionals install this fitting in laboratory, industrial, and commercial drain systems where corrosion resistance and joint reliability are critical.
The 257121 adapter is part of the Enfield FRPP pipe and fittings system, which is designed for corrosive chemical waste drainage in residential laboratory, commercial, and industrial settings. The FRPP material supports an operating temperature range of -10 degrees F to 212 degrees F, allowing systems to be flushed with boiling water without degrading the pipe or fittings. The Enfield system is also available in non-flame-retardant polypropylene (NFRPP) for applications where plenum ratings are not required. All Enfield pipe and fittings are listed to NSF 14 and certified by IAPMO.
Designed for use with the IPEX Enfield electrofusion pipe and fittings system in FRPP or NFRPP configurations for corrosive chemical waste drainage applications.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber using a microprocessor-controlled Enfusion unit to ensure proper joint fusion and repeatability. Power down any connected process equipment and isolate the drain line before beginning work. Follow IAPMO and applicable IPC requirements for chemical waste drain system installations. Do not attempt fusion joints with incompatible fittings or non-matched pipe outside the Enfield system, as joint integrity depends on matched components.
